First Step Nursery |
Our Aim
Our aim at Kirmington First Step Nursery is to ensure your child feels secure, included, and valued. By working together we can create an atmosphere were security and confidence can flourish. The learning environment is rich and stimulating and allows children to make decisions for themselves, thus enabling them to learn, develop and make good progress.
|
Learning
When your child enters the Nursery they will be
encountering a range of different experiences.
Well-planned play is a key way in which your child will learn new skills. Through challenging activities and enjoyment they will develop confidence and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
|
The Foundation Stage
The foundation stage begins when children are three years old and continues until the end of the school year in which they become five.
Your child will have already learnt a great deal by the time they are three years old and it is part of the
partnership with parents and staff at Kirmington First Step Nursery to value and build on your child's previous learning. Working together we can ensure your child gets the best start in life that they deserve.
|
Areas of learning
The foundation stage curriculum is organised into six areas of learning:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Mathematical development
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Physical development
Creative development
Each week your child will access planned activities and experiences.

Complaints Procedure
To help the nursery to run smoothly parents can talk to the staff about any worries or complaints they may have. Our Nursery believes that children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our Nursery and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns about the running of the Nursery.
We anticipate that most concerns will be resolved quickly by an informal approach to the appropriate member of staff. It this does not achieve the desired result; we have a set of procedures for dealing with concerns.
How to complain
Stage 1
Any parent who is uneasy about an aspect of the Nursery provision talks over, first of all his/her worries and anxieties with:
a) Head Teacher
b) Deputy Childcare Manager (Nursery Nurse)
Any parent who requires a written response to their concerns should request one at this stage.
Stage 2
If this does not have a satisfactory outcome, or if the problem recurs, the parent moves on by making a formal complaint in writing (forms available in Nursery and school office) to the Childcare Manager who will investigate the complaint. The complainant can expect a written reply in acknowledgement of receipt of the complaint, as well as some indication of how and when the complaint will be addressed within 5 working days.
Stage 3
When a formal complaint has been fully investigated, the Childcare Manager should ensure that the person who made the complaint is informed, in writing, of the outcome.
Stage 4
If the complainant still remains dissatisfied after an internal investigation has taken place, they are entitled to take their complaint to Ofsted. Contact details for Ofsted are:
